Meeting with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák

During the meeting the matters of intensification of the bilateral relations, cooperation in political and economic sphere have been taken into consideration.

The Head of State noted that it had been 24 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries.

- This year is the Slovak Presidency of the European Union, and the EU summit in Bratislava was held. All this testifies to the dynamic development of the Slovak Republic in the European Union, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

The Kazakh President drew attention to the extensive economic relations of our country with the EU, which accounts for almost half of the turnover.

- We have signed the agreement on cooperation with the EU and look forward to your support. I wish to express my gratitude for the ratification of this document, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

The President also pointed to the need for strengthening bilateral ties.

- Industrial and innovative program, economic diversification for the development of processing industries and privatization are underway in Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

In turn, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia congratulated the Head of State on the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence and the advantages that have been achieved by the country during that period.

- Due to political stability, economic and social development Kazakhstan is certain to be the leader of the Central Asian region. We are interested in the best relations and cooperation with your country. And this is one of the purposes of my visit, Miroslav Lajcak said.

The Minister said about the representative business delegation together with him.

- At the moment the Slovak entrepreneurs are meeting with their colleagues from Kazakhstan. The focus is on the trade turnover increase between our countries, Miroslav Lajcak said.

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia also noted the importance of taking Kazakhstan's relations with the European Union to a totally new level.

In addition, Miroslav Lajcak laid emphasis on the global role of our country in settling important issues of regional agenda, the importance of which increases in the light of Kazakhstan’s membership in the UN Security Council.

In conclusion, the President of Kazakhstan expressed hope that the visit will open up new opportunities for our countries to develop bilateral relations.
