The Official World Blitz and Rapid Chess Championships have been arranged to coincide with the Capital Day. The contests will be held under the auspices of the FIDE.
At the start of the contest, the President noted that many important events will be held on the eve of the Capital Day.
Due to the team of participants it is supposed to be a sharp and competitive chess tournament. The world’s top-ranked chess grandmasters, such as Magnus Carlsen, Boris Gelfand, Sergey Karyakin, Veselin Topalov, Vassiliy Ivanchuk, Teimur Radzhabov, Alexander Grishchuk and others will compete for the award of World Blitz and Rapid Chess Champion.
The championships will be judged by the well-known arbiters. The chess tournaments will be held on July 6-10, 2012.
