Meeting with Akmola region activists on socio-economic development issues

Opening the meeting, the Head of State introduced to the meeting participants the region’s new akim Malik Murzalin, whose candidature had been agreed upon by the region’s Maslikhat at its extraordinary session.

The President of Kazakhstan, speaking before the region's active members, noted the positive growth of the region's economy in a number of indicators, including industry, agricultural production, the volume of attracted investments, and housing construction.

- Having been through survived three powerful crises, we have maintained stability in the country and are developing further. We have accumulated a national reserve, which allowed us to overcome economic difficulties. Now we are facing a new task within the implementation of "The Third Modernization of Kazakhstan: Global Competitiveness" Address to achieve the goal of joining the 30-strong developed countries of the world, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

The Head of State, noting the rapid technological development in the conditions of the coming new reality in the world, emphasized the need for applying new knowledge and approaches to the implementation of the tasks set in the Address.

The President of Kazakhstan stressed the importance of implementing industrialization and infrastructure development programs both in the region and throughout the country.

- 7 000 km of motor roads will be built in Kazakhstan in the coming years. All regions will be connected by first-class highways. It will remain forever, for our children and grandchildren. In addition, work is under way to restore airports and construction of 2 sea ports in the Caspian Sea is in the works. All programs actualized in the country involve exercising new approaches, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

In addition, the Head of State has given a number of tasks for M.Murzalin on further development of the region’s agricultural sector. In particular, the President of Kazakhstan noted the importance of developing the agro-industrial complex by creating agricultural cooperatives, rising productivity through scientific potential, micro-crediting of agriculture and mainstreaming of SMEs.

The Head of State also highlighted the region’s tourism potential in the context of the forthcoming International Exhibition "EXPO-2017".

In conclusion, Nursultan Nazarbayev wished everyone involved a plentiful growing season and success in the upcoming spring sowing campaign.
